Specialty Areas

Treatment with me focuses on body image and disordered eating, changing perfectionist behaviors, and building self-worth through empowerment.

And, of course, all through a feminist lens.

Women deserve to feel worthy and powerful.

Always.

You might be thinking, “Why the focus on feminism in therapy?” Fair question. All women have a unique story; a personal life filled with people, experiences, education, and circumstances that have influenced and shaped who they are. In addition to those unique backgrounds, women share the social experience of being female in a society designed by men, for men. It’s important to acknowledge and understand how the pressures, expectations, and limits of a patriarchal society have impacted women’s thinking and actions so that we can instead make choices for ourselves that actually reflect what we want. In simplest terms, feminism is the freedom to choose.

Areas of Focus

We will explore your relationship with food, weight, and exercise and the messaging you received about appearance and worth. We will practice mindfulness and somatic experiencing to help you become an ally with your body, instead of warring against it.

Body Image and Disordered Eating

We will identify the perfectionist thoughts and behaviors that might be holding you back. We will look at the impact of shame narratives you have experienced personally, as well as how that shame plays into the larger social shame of women.

Perfectionism and Shame

We will help you strengthen your identity through values-actions. We will practice assertiveness and use of boundaries to improve relational dynamics. We will work to build the confidence to choose your authentic path without apology.

Insurance and Fees

I offer a free, 15 minute consultation to discuss needs and assess fit.

I offer both insurance and private pay options for convenience.

Insurance can be preferred for those individuals who have mental health coverage with their plan; I also use a third-party billing company to help manage insurance questions and issues. Please be advised, insurance does require a documented diagnosis of an individual in order to provide coverage; as well, sometimes insurance can dictate how many sessions are allowed.

I am in-network with the following insurance providers:

Aetna

United

Cigna

Private pay can be a good option for those individuals who don’t have mental health insurance coverage. In addition, private pay does not require a documented diagnosis of an individual, and there is no limit to how many sessions can be had per year nor any limit to how frequently the sessions can occur.

My rates for private pay:

Private Pay intake session (typically 60 minutes): $165

Private Pay standard session (~50 minutes): $155
